Join me for episode 64, where I talk about the relationship between finding your true nature and why it is often part of the work of recovering from chronic illness. I will discuss how we use the MAP Method to address blocks and barriers you may have developed to your authentic self.
I will talk about my own insights from working with clients, as well as the those of Martha Beck as summarized in her book,
Finding Your Way in a Wild New World, including her description of the type of person most often affected by chronic illness, and the four essential technologies that she advocates for learning to turn things around, which are also utilized by my own work with the MAP Method.
In this episode I’ll discuss:

[2:50] What I have seen over and over again in my clients is that the ways in which we have buried our true nature make us vulnerable to chronic illness.
[6:00] According to Martha Beck, "tribe members" have chronic illnesses. It’s very common for them to have chronic pain and chronic conditions of all kinds. She talks about how in all ancient societies these were exactly the kinds of people who were recognized as having gifts. These were the people who were selected to be trained as shamans, medicine women and healers. She describes how accepting and following their path led to remissions in their health conditions.
[9:00] The kinds of things that prevent us from hearing our true call, the kinds of things that keep us in patterns like people-pleasing, perfectionism, conflict-avoiding, caretaking–those kinds of things are blocks and barriers not only to living our true life but also to our access to the innate healing power of the body.
[12:00] Your sensitivities, your intuition, your empathic nature… these are gifts. Sometimes what is meant to be a gift can feel like a curse if you don’t understand how to use the gift. You may be feeling burdened by these gifts, but the solution is not to deny the gift, which is a part of yourself, but to learn how to use them in a way that serves you.
[15:00] In a MAP session you're being assisted by the practitioner, much like the way a novice hang glider or parasailor is tethered to an instructor to enable them to have an experience that they wouldn’t be able to have on their own.
[19:00] So, I see the MAP Method as an enhanced technique that incorporates all 4 technologies that Martha Beck describes. Its power and efficacy come from the connection to a practitioner who is skilled in connecting to your subconscious mind and raising your vibration to a higher level of oneness.
Madeleine specializes in neural retraining for chronic conditions. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, she worked with many clients who were interested in eliminating allergies, sensitivities and intolerances. After learning a basic method and seeing its limitations, she trained in an advanced method of retraining the brain and now offers MAP sessions over Zoom and online self-paced programs for Anxiety/Depression, Sensitivities, Chronic Pain, Self-Healing, and COVID Long.
